DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: A simple and uncomplicated shapes which create artistic impression.
Lightweight and dynamic appearance.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: Make a compact, easily remembered kitchen shape
with a distinctive and original design and outstanding functionality.
Create kitchen as an icon.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: To offer this type of kitchen design and furniture to
potential manufacturers to create a product in commercially available range.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: It took a long time to convince the client and than to deal with technical side of the design.
So whole thing from sketch to realization took about half a year.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: I would like to connect with an international furniture manufacturer and
design additional furniture pieces to this kitchen.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: I was looking for contrast to historical interior where this kitchen is placed.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: Yes, design of cars.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: A client who likes bold designs and wishes for individual approach.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: It is named after the client surname.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Imagination, modeling skills and work with materials and in particular
convincing skills when working with clients.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: In the long term I'm trying to experiment in the field of architecture and design, but with
The intention to create despite the diversity of projects a common style denominator
of IO Studio.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: We could not finish this work without a final 3D model created in the computer.
And of course it would not work without specialists in corian DCH Sincolor company.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: The subject is manufactured using thermoforming technology. It was therefore necessary
to first prepare forms. They are made of MDF using 3D CNC machines.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The kitchen island has a 5m length, but with such large object, we had already
experience.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I think that architecture can speak with a universal language and therefore can be
understood abroad.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: Every project we propose, we try to do as unique. Therefore, most of
applied practice is new for us and we always discover something.
