DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
MF : I get inspirations for my designs from our daily lives.
I believe that designs need to send messages to society and change something better.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
MF : I wanted to create a brand new living space which we had never had.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
MF : I don’t have any particular plans.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
MF : It took about one week to design and create concept for this Rug Lounger.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
MF : I pursued my inspiration because I believed this Rug Lounger would create a brand new concept.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
MF : My design is not used or produced by another company.
I have no plan to sell or lease the production right.
This is just a prototype and mass production is a next challenge.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
MF : I designed this because it was a brand new idea.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
MF : I respect Jean Prouve. His work influenced my work.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
MF : I designed this Rug Lounger for whoever would like to use.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
MF : I believe that my design is very unique.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
MF : I gave my design a name as you can see.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
MF : I used CAD while designing this Rug Lounger.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
MF : The most unique aspect of my work is to use artificial grass rug.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
MF : I own my design company and work alone.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
MF : Nothing, specially.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
MF : I ran a simulation by creating a real-size model.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
MF : I wanted to make this Rug Lounger universally user-friendly.
I adjusted the slope angle of Longer and armrest position many times.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
MF : I usually submitted my design to an exhibition when its organizer had invited me.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
MF : Not during designing, after designing, when I checked the real thing, I found some points to be improved such as hardness and strength of material.
