DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: There are many sensor kitchen faucets on the market, however we wanted to develop a product that was completely touch free to operate. So everything from turning the water on/off, dispensing soap or detergent to changing the water temperature is completely touch free to operate.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: We want to commerialise this product. We aim to have this product available in all major luxury kitchen showrooms.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: The design andd development process of the miscea KITCHEN system took just over 1 year from beginning to end.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: This design was requested after miscea realised that the miscea CLASSIC system was not suitable for use within the kitchen environment. The design of the miscea KITCHEN system was based on the miscea CLASSIC system but was adapted for use within the kitchen environment.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: The miscea KITCHEN system is currently being produced by miscea GmbH.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: miscea has a large design and engineering team, so there was definitely a lot of collaboration with other members of the team.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: The target customer group for this particular design is private home owners interested in luxury kitchen products.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The miscea KITCHEN is a sensor faucet with integrated dispensers. There are no other products capable of this on the market.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: We wanted to keep it simple, so simply called it the miscea KITCHEN because it is meant to be used in the kitchen.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The most unique aspects of the miscea KITCHEN system is that its the fastest and more precise sensor faucet on the market that has two integrated dispensers. This makes working around the sink/kitchen more convenient and hygienic because users do not have to touch the faucet or reach for separate dispensers.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: The miscea KITCHEN is a very technical product, which meant we needed to work with a number of engineers from different fields in order to get the product to work exactly how we intended.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Technology plays a huge role in this design. The use of advanced sensor technology is critical in ensuring that the user interface works perfectly without any delays or gliches. It took us quite some time to perfect this technology for the specific applications in which we required.
