DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
VV : The original idea was inspired by the shape of a tear, but during the modeling the shape was changed.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
VV : A chair with smooth shape, nice color, to bring pleasure for all senses.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
VV : I will be very happy to see this project alive, hope that there will be a manufacturer who will be interested in producing it.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
VV : About 2 months.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
VV : No, it was not commissioned. I had it in my head and this design competition was a very good reason to force myself to bring the idea to live :-)
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
VV : I have plan to sell or lease the production rights to a reliable manufacturer.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
VV : Ideas comes to my mind randomly, so there is no special reason.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
VV : This chair is suitable for both public places (like clubs, cafeterias ...) and private customers.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
VV : I think that the only thing is the shape.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
VV : The name 'Desire' was inspired by the shape and the color, by the passion of using this product. Also i wanted this chair to have a woman's name.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
VV : If you are talking about software - ProEngneer and KeyShot.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
VV : Every design is unique, in my case probably the shape.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
VV : No, i was working alone.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
VV : The only role of technology in this particular design is the ability to be manufactured
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
VV : It was just an inspiration, not influenced by analysis and research
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
VV : Balance between design and ergonomy, which i still have doubts that is 100% achieved
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
VV : I had a lot of hesitations and doubts if my work is good enough to be shown in a worldwide competition like this but sometimes you should have to believe in your self and try
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
VV : Every step forward is a good experience
