DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The main priciple in my design is the fusion of two cultures in one piece.The unity of the old jordanian brass piece & the Uzbek textile ,formed a modern structure, that can be utilized within any interior.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: I wanted to expose our new generation to designs that incorporate old crafts which are fading away. It is somehow an educational functional piece, defining two different cultures.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I would like this winning design to open new venues for me &expose my creations & work to European Designers & others.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: It took me 2 days to design this concept.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: This design was not comissioned, I just decided as usual to pursue an inspiration
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: I plan to sell the production rights.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: It is not unusual for me to design such a piece as this is the exact original concept of design that I always follow.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: No, it is completely my idea
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Any customer who would like to own a piece of craft that has a story behind it will purchase this design.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: This design is unique in including two old pieces of heritage, that compliment each other forming together a design that isn't related to their original funtion.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Lagan is the arabic word used to name the old brass washing utensil piece, so I named it accordingly.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: I used very simple tools as the design & formation of it is very simple indeed. (Less Is More)
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The unique aspect of my design is the choice of old heritage pieces to be the main componant of the design.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I worked with a very simple carpenter & upholsterer to produce my design.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: There is no role of technology in this particular design, as it is a straight forward procedure that needed very simple carpenter & upholsterer.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: I wasn't influenced by any data, or did any research for making my design. It is an inspiration & a passion.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: I didn't face any challenges as the design was produced exactly like I designed & visualized it.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I received an email & responded to it, since Iam a designer & my show room has a lot of my creations.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: My vision & mission behind my designs was confirmed when my design became a winner. I learned to follow my passion always.
