DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
MS : My main focus in designing this work was to create a harmonious blend of functionality, sustainability, and cultural relevance, aiming to address the specific needs of the users while integrating seamlessly with the surrounding context.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
MS : My future plans for this award-winning design involve further refining and expanding it to encompass larger-scale urban projects that prioritize human-centric design principles. I aim to gain more experience in urban design, focusing on creating impactful spaces that enrich communities and promote sustainable living.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
MS : It was an intensive 3-month process, of research and analysis and another 3 months to design and modelling.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
MS : I decided to pursue this project by myself. Coming from a metropolis where the Transit system divided the city, I wanted to design a prototype that blends the transit system into the city fabric and promotes human-centric design principles.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
MS : This design is not currently being used by any companies. However, I intend to pursue its execution and implementation in architectural and urban design projects in collaboration.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
MS : I remember my childhood fantasy of traveling on trains and experiencing the play of light and shadows.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
MS : A design journey is never an individual endeavor; it always involves discussions and implementations. My friends, guides, and mentors played a significant role in resolving many issues, from understanding the scale of the project to refining the functionality of my concepts.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
MS : It is a transit system for people.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
MS : This design distinguishes itself by its innovative approach to transit system integration in Brno. It seamlessly blends transportation infrastructure with social interaction spaces, offering a unique urban experience. The design prioritizes user needs and promotes community engagement, setting it apart from conventional transit projects.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
MS : The name "Interntwine" was inspired by the concept of intertwining the transit system with the urban fabric of Brno. It symbolizes the seamless integration of the railway station into the cityscape, emphasizing connectivity and cohesion. The term reflects the design's goal of creating a harmonious relationship between transportation infrastructure and the surrounding environment, fostering a sense of unity and continuity within the urban context.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
MS : Sketching/ Physical Modelling/ AutoCAD/ SketchUp Modelling/ Rhino, Grasshopper/ Lumion, Cinema 4d(rendering) and Photoshop for post-production.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
MS : The most unique aspect of my design is its focus on seamlessly integrating the transit system into the urban fabric of Brno. Unlike traditional railway stations that stand as separate entities, this design merges transportation infrastructure with the surrounding environment. By incorporating green spaces, pedestrian pathways, and cultural amenities, the design transforms the station into a vibrant hub that enriches the city's social and cultural life. This holistic approach creates a unique experience where travelers can seamlessly transition between transportation modes while engaging with their surroundings.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
MS : Professors, friends, mentors, and visualizers.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
MS : Balancing functionality with aesthetics and integrating the transit nexus into Brno's urban fabric presented challenges. Overcoming regulatory hurdles and ensuring sustainability were key aspects of the design process.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
MS : I submitted my design to an international competition, hoping to gain global recognition and valuable feedback. I saw this as a chance to benchmark against international standards and foster future opportunities.
