DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
AP : This series of images arise from the experimentation of shapes, textures and lighting through 3d software.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
AP : My focus was on the idea of creating a universe of organic and abstract creatures.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
AP : I hope that they will have a lot of exposure and can be exhibited in some art space.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
AP : It has taken me a few years.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
AP : I have designed it out of a personal need to explore digital art and sculpture. Also to get out of work obligations and be able to develop my artistic skills.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
AP : I hope to be able to sell them to some collector, gallery or art museum.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
AP : experimentation
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
AP : Six N Five has been a reference for me.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
AP : There are no customers
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
AP : My artistic subjectivity.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
AP : The name has to do with these living sculptures that represent living organisms that coexist with each other in this imaginary world.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
AP : Basically I have used Cinema 4D and Photoshop. But the first tool was a pencil and paper to sketch the ideas.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
AP : The materiality, morphology and composition.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
AP : I have done this project alone.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
AP : It is essential to materialize the concepts in a realistic way.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
AP : I have investigated about the living organisms of nature and also about abstract sculptures.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
AP : The main challenge was to achieve harmony in the composition and general arrangement of the elements for the different images.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
AP : Only for curiosity. It was something like throwing a bottle into the sea with a message inside and seeing what happens.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
AP : I have learned a lot about 3D modeling and texturing. It has also been useful for me to improve my lighting techniques.
