Interview with Marc O Riain at Tuesday 1st of April 2014: FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? MO : I believe in designing from the user out and in truly bringing originality and excitement to designs. In college I was taught to design from first principals. So I really try to reinvent the wheel every time. .. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? MO : Collaboration and fostering community. I really believe in the power of peer learning in the studio environment. Also we have a very small budget and we had to deliver an intervention that was affordable. So we didn't build walls, for the most part, we avoided subdividing servicing which kept the sam prices low. .. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? MO : Enjoy it, share it with the Cork Design community, it will provide a public outreach with exhibition space, training and meeting space. For the students it is a home they never had, people respect it. I think will will age well. ..

It carries the main symbol of azores-the Açor (hawk family bird)- an heritage that comes from XV century, when the Portuguese navigators discovered these virgin islands. BC : Vivit Collection was inspired by organic forms and behaviours found in nature. The main idea was to create memorable pieces able to arouse curiosity of the beholder by means like animals and humans use to seduce - dancing... FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? BC : We hope to take part in different galleries/stores and expositions around the world, to expose the collection as much as we can... FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? BC : It took us around six months to design and develop the whole production process. The project presented a lot of challenges in every production steps that required several tests and researches until we finally achieved the best results...

Interview with Buero Wagner at Tuesday 15th of April 2014: FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? BW : When Gamsei opened in 2013, hyper-localism was introduced to a field of practice which had till then been mainly confined to the food scene. At Gamsei, ingredients for cocktails are either wildly foraged or grown by local artesian farmers, thus reestablishing a connection with local products and culture. Gamsei is, envisioned as an antidote to the globalization of cocktail bars.. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? BW : Just like the cocktails, we procured all materials locally, and worked in close collaboration with local manufacturers to produce custom-made solutions. Gamsei is a wholly integrated concept that turns the event of drinking a cocktail into a novel experience. .. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? BW : The Design and research process started in September 2012 in Munich – The interior was completed in April 2013. ..

FE : The box contains a short animation, entirely produced by the artist Nelson Fernandes aka Zina Caramelo. The aesthetic essence contaminates the shape and appearance of the box. In conclusion, the inspiration behind our design comes literally from the inside... FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? FE : To be as consistent as possible with the artist's original aesthetics, in such way that we could achieve a continuum between his work and the DVD box. .. Interview with Rice Creative at Thursday 17th of April 2014: FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? RC : To create a series of Coca-Cola cans which spread millions of Tết wishes nation wide. We utilized Coca-Cola's Tết symbol (the Swallow Bird) as the device to form these wishes. For each can, hundreds of hand-drawn swallows were crafted and carefully arranged around a custom script, which together form a series of meaningful Vietnamese wishes. "An", means Peace. "Tài" means Success, "Lộc" means Prosperity. These words are widely exchanged throughout the holiday, and traditionally adorn Tết decorations... FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? RC : To make this idea happen, using a can of Coke which is already held and shared by millions to do more than just hold liquid, but to be the vehicle of a touching message. We had this idea that it could put a smile on a million faces, the client obviously loved the idea... FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? RC : We like to keep things socially conscious no matter if the client is an upstart or a multi-million dollar corporation...

DK : My main aim to tell the story of what happened in a way so that the reader can get the best idea of what it was like for me. At some points throughout, I didn't feel like words could express exactly how I was feeling or what was going on at that particular moment in time, so I decided to include elements of art and graphic design to help convey those feelings. .. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? DK : My main focus was always to tell the story the best way possible. I wanted the reader to be able to enjoy the journey as much as I did as they read through the text and saw the accompanying visuals. .. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? DK : My plans are to try to talk to different kinds of publishers to see if there would be a way for it to reach more people and see what kind of response it receives. ..

AS : The main source of inspiration for my design was bullfights, which are part of a vast cultural diversity in my country. So I wanted to represent the same concept in the transition and awakening of consciousness about controversial issues not only in Mexico but worldwide. .. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AS : My main aim was to achieve the fusion of an aesthetically minimalist element and an imposing piece. And that piece projects the cultural history of a country... Interview with Stanley Siu at Tuesday 20th of May 2014: FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? SS : Rising Moon is a temporary pavilion designed to serve as an anchor attraction during the 2013 Hong Kong Mid-Autumn Festival. It reinterpreted traditional paper lanterns with recycled plastic bottles and at the same time creating a Synthetic Moon, thus promoting the message of environmental protection... FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? SS : Our concept is to bring the distanced Moon closer to the surface of Victoria Park, which gives the visitors a dynamic visual impact, a Synthetic Moon... FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? SS : Rising Moon is the gold award winner of Hong Kong Tourism Board Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Wonderland Design Competition 2013. We then carried forward the concept to construction for the Mid-Autumn Festival in Hong Kong on 14th September 2013...

AB : I knew from the beginning that we wanted to create a business card that people would like to keep and even show to others, but never forgetting the purpose of a business card... What I wanted to achieve with this design is a business card that reflects, in any single aspect, the pureness of the photography. People understand what Alicia does without even reading the text...
