DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The principle behind my design is that people.
The information we want to pass in this space, and the information that people who enter this space actually feel.
I think the principle of design is the rational use of space and the understanding of the information to be transmitted by space under the designer's experience.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: What I am most concerned about in the whole project is the linkage of consumers entering this space to the entire space.
This very important point is the design of the stairs connecting each floor.
So what I really want to achieve is an idea for the stairs.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: Winning this award is the industry's biggest affirmation of my design.
In the future, i hope to realize more design ideas.
Thanks to the organizer for giving me such an affirmative award.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: The overall concept did not take long in the design phase.
Because I have a lot of communication with the client.
So this concept has enough information when I set it.
The whole concept was put forward within two days.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: The setting of the concept is my understanding of this project and a design concept that I want to elaborate.
This is raised by me, and my client is very, very much agree.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: The design is produced and used by other companies.
I am only the designer.
Relatively speaking, the relationship is relatively simple.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: The design that influenced me is an architect.
Also my idol Le Corbusier.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: The target customer of my design is my client's consumer of his entire project.
The general public
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The name of this design is what my team came up with.
It is a design made of water as a carrier, and through the carrier of water, we think of the story of a whale.
The story of a whale named alice.
This name is intended to convey an individual who is independent in the city.
They need to find a place to generate emotional resonance or resonance in the space experience.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: In the design process we used some design software
For example:3D max/SketchUp/VRay/photoshop etc.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: In my design case, i like to use some common materials or some attributes to do some different design.
Second is the use of lighting
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: The design was done by me independently, collaboration with my team.
Then, in terms of landing, there needs to be some technical work cuts,to achieve a better state.
Such as the stairs,we asked a 70-year-old old craftsman to make the shape of this staircase.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: The effect of my entire staircase,it was completely handmade by this old craftsman.
His role is very, very important.
He realized my thoughts on design and the degree of reduction of the design.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: At the beginning of the design, we have visited and researched the surrounding area.
So we have some data on people traffic, includes data on time-to-day changes in traffic,
data including consumer groups.
These will affect my design for the moving line as well as the material and lighting design.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The biggest problem is the communication with the construction party, the communication with the material supplier, and the communication with the equipment side during the landing stage.
These require their strong cooperation, i can successfully complete such a project.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I hope that the projects I have made will get a better platform to prove whether there will be more people like this design.
This is a very important reason for me to participate in such a competition.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: The overall process from design to landing of the entire project.
What I realized is as an entity entrepreneur, not easy under the current Chinese economic conditions.
Let me stand in the perspective of my client, rethinking the various issues surrounding the overall operation of my project.
DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
: I am very grateful to the organizers for providing such a fair and open design competition.
Can make more new designers like me,able to have a show of their own work, and opportunities to improve myself design capabilities.
