DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The project's starting point is to design a trivet that can be stowable, beautiful, different and stable.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: It is lighter than common trivets, which not only reduces material usage, but also makes the structure more stable. As a renewable resource, it can reduce environmental pollution.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: We will massivelly produce and market it in this year later.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: It takes us nearly 3 weeks to design.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: The metal structure of Bamboo Angle comes from bamboo natural state, bamboo shape with bamboo material reveal the unity of a product. Triangle is a solid structure, bamboo is a good way of deconstruction to it. Also using bamboo is friendly to environment. Detachable collection is not only easy for packaging and transport, but also saving the storage space of the user.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: We plan to sell or lease the production rights to other companies.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: It has only six parts, can be flat packaging, reduce packaging space, easy to transport and easy to assemble without any tool.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: People care about environmental protection.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: It is lighter than common trivets, which not only reduces material usage, but also makes the structure more stable.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Its name comes from the material and the shape.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: freehand sketching and Rhino
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The overall outline of it combines the curve and straight lines, hard and soft, increase the beauty of table and dining pleasure.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Bamboo Processing technology, metal casting and machining technology
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: At the beginning of this project, we studied different types of trivets and pot pads. The market is mainly based on sheet metal and silicone pads, and we want to design a unique product in the sense of quality.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: Our challenge is to design a more differentiated trivet, which will maximize the limits of simple, beautiful, environmentally friendly, convenient and stable products, using natural renewable materials to reduce environmental pollution, and better matched with the home decoration.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: As we want to promote our brand and studio all over the world, we attend this competition to develop the interest.
DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
: The design triangle adds to the beauty of the table and dining pleasure. Bamboo has good insulation and as a kind of natural material can be matched with different home environment.
