DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: Spherical Wheel Luggage was inspired by the problems with performance and durability of the current two-wheels & four-wheels luggage.
The idea arose from a question: How can we get the pros of two-wheel and four-wheel luggage at the same time and remove their cons?
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: The main focus was to design a functional yet beautiful wheel for luggage to combine both two-wheel and four-wheel luggage pros, and be able to overcome their cons.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I try to make a sample of it and test it in action. Also I try to find an investor for its production or sell the production rights of it.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: It took me about one month to finish the design concept and 3D designing.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: Actually this design was my decide to pursuit an idea and inspiration.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: No, that is not produced or used by another company yet, But I plan to sell the production rights of it.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: My "problem solving" morale!
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Luggage manufacturers and anyone who wants to travel comfortably!
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: Actually this is the first Spherical Wheel Luggage in the world and there is not any similar concept.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The name of this design comes from its functionality. Spherical Wheel Luggage means luggage with full spherical (without axis) and multi directional wheel!
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: I used 3D and 2D softwares like Maya, 3DsMax, Keyshot and photoshop to create the concept on the PC after sketching it out first.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: This design has three aspects that makes it unique. First of all, shape of its wheel that is spherical. Second is ability to generate electricity using piezoelectric generator. And third is shock absorber that make its motion very smooth.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: Nobody! I did this alone.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: In terms of transforming ideas on paper to three-dimensional design, 3D software and computer technology, was very useful and effective.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: I did a research on the piezoelectric generator for generating electricity using impact induced vibration.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: I didn't face any major complications.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I think become winner in an international design competition is the dream of every designer!
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: I always push myself to reach for the best. It is the key to creating something great and the key of never getting comfortable so that your mind always stays sharp and hungry.
DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
: I want to say thanks to A' Design Award & Competition team and the jury, Because they have provided the condition that enable designers to be seen by the world and grows more and more.
