DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: Car Visualizer Classics was inspired from the racing video games configurators. It allows users to select from a variety of classic vehicles, change the paint color and look around them from any angle. It can be accessed from any browser.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: The main purpose of the project was to create the most realistic exhibition of classic vehicles in real-time 3D, accessible from any modern device or browser.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: Based on this project we have started building a platform for configuring vehicles in real-time 3D on the browser, which allows people everywhere to use it and in this way faster decide on which vehicle they wish to purchase.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: This project took us about 4 months in total, designing the environment, preparing the 3D models and doing all the tests necessary for a proper functionality.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: This design was mainly our own inspiration, looking to reach the limits of 3D graphics on the Web.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: We have been working in building this type of applications for different clients across industries.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: We have a passion for beautiful cars, and there are a lot of classic cars aficionados around the world. We thought they would mostly appreciate this type of presentation.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: With this project we target the classic cars aficionados, but all cars enthusiasts are approached.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: Car Visualizer Classics is one of a kind real-time 3D presentation of classic vehicles. They are presented in an abstract environment, with different camera animations showing the user the cars from all sort of angles.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: We called our first prototypes of vehicle configurators Car Visualizer, and this one was presenting classics.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: We used 3D modeling software for vehicle optimization, Photoshop for design and image creation and Sublime Text for writing the code.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: Everything is happening in real-time on the browser.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: The project was developed by Delia Otetea and Ivan Moreno.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: The advancements in web based graphical libraries had give us the possibility to create more powerful applications.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: Yes, absolutely. The constant research we do in graphics programming and video game concepts is what allows us to achieve the type of visuals we have. We analyze how all the major video game producers are building their games.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The hardware diversity and geometry creation.
