DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?

: Principle: To design a chair according to the philosophy of the Bauhaus - to use soft and fluent forms in accordance with Feng Shui - to integrate functions - - - Stacking chair - nesting as group chair or bench - corner chair. Idea: To develop a chair rack, consisting of one piece including th back rest. Inspiration: To find a form as a tribute to my hometown wich has a pyramid and a fan as an emblem - - - Chair rack as a pyramid - seat and back rest as a fan.

DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?

: Few components - simple dismantling and exchange of the components without the use of tools - variable exchange of seat and back rest for a use indoors and outdoors - changing designs - protection by the parts themselves without screws and nuts - - - back rest secures seat against falling out.

DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?

: To find a company which will produce and distribute my chair.

DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?

: The concept is not finished yet. At present I am developing a supplement by armrests - a construction of seat and armrest consisting of one piece of pipe.

DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?

: To develop and design a chair means to assert oneself in the highest level of design. I was pursuing an inspiration.

DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?

: I plan to sell or lease my product.

DI: What made you design this particular type of work?

: Ambition.

DI: Who is the target customer for his design?

: Everybody, who enjoys design.

DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?

: The minimum of seperate parts and fixing parts.

DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?

: The name - xifix - is my pseudonym - - - Juergen Goetzmann - alias xifix - the one man group - - - one - it is my first chair

DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?

: The most unique aspect is that all my diverse requirements were realized in an elegant and filigree design.

DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?

: To reduce the technology to a minimum.

DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?

: The chair had to work with this particular form.

DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?

: To win an international design competition, which was tendered by Italy the mother country of design, would be my greatest fulfilment.

DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?

: In order to take part in this competition I had to learn a new CAD program, a shadow-construction-program.

DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?

: No - but I like to use this possibility to express thanks for the professional tendering and support of this competition.
