DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: I never stay in comfortable zoom. I like to think differently as a designer. When I designing Dreemz, I want to design an ice cream has healing function as well as a new way to eat ice cream, so I thought tequila is a good combination.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: How to make this brand, fun, elegant, luxury, and new lifestyle.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I have submitted IP application in the U.S. I hope someday I can see"my baby" in the real market and sell this idea to a big name company.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: originally, it was a class I took in Pratt Institute's assignment( it was a graduate program), which is to design an ice cream cone. However, after I did research and also thinking about what is future ice cream going to look like. Then this idea came up and my professor loved it. he let me totally changed the subject to do this personal project and gave me An at the end. After graduation, I continued working on this project until finished it as it looking like now.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: Not yet. I plan to sell it to a company. I hope one day my "baby" will in the real market. let dream come true.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: At that time, I interned in Vera Wang ads creative service. They really like the black color, we even have a dress code to wear black every day to work. I think Dreemz was inspired by that type of style. high-end, elegant, gold and black.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: Yes, vera wang's 2016 bridal campaign.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: girls will get marry soon.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The new way to add liqueur to an ice cream is a totally new idea.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Drunk & Ice cream, Dreemz also pronounce like dreams.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: AI, PS, InDesign
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: I think the idea to add liqueur to ice cream.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I often talked to my professor Tom Delany from Pratt Institute. He gave me a lot of comments and support this idea.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Ice cream is traditionally consumed with simple waffle cones and paper cups. The challenge, which Dreamz addresses, is to offer a fancy, high-end, and more elegant interpretation of ice cream consumption. This is achieved by creative grouping (while segregating) ice cream and liquor in one multilayered package, adorned in black and gold.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: Research shows that ice cream evolved from an aristocratic luxury into a popular mass dessert with the advent of refrigeration and industrialized mass production. Ice cream cones were developed in the 19th century, and this traditional packaging has endured to this day. Given this backdrop, Dreemz reflects an alternative idea: of elevating the social status of ice cream by presenting a high-end, sophisticated way of packaging ice cream alongside alcoholic beverages.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: What type of materials I should use, I did a lot of tests about materials for it to keep the original idea. And also liquor and ice cream are hard to make the model of it. I spend a lot of money too of course.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I love this idea and it was showing in New York Design week 2016. A lot of people love it too. They told me hopefully one day will see it in the real market. So I submit it to A' design to make it famous and hope dreemz will come true
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: I learned a lot of things. Ideas are always easy, it hard to make them real. And also there is always the budget issue. I learn to management a lot of stuff.
